The Indian Comics Association (ICA) is a platform for fostering creativity, collaboration, and the growth of the Indian comic book industry. ICA encourages participation from creators at varying stages of their journey and provides avenues for recognition and development. 

Creator Membership: This is for individuals who have demonstrated skills and commitment to the field of comics. 

–        Eligibility:

o   Open to writers, artists, letterers, colorists, critics, influencers, & all comics industry-related creators.

o   Selection is based on recommendations by existing Associate Creatives or Publishers.

o   Selection is also possible through portfolio submission and undertaking.

o   Members in this category are recognized for their creative contributions and potential.

o   Publishers are authorized to endorse Creators working with or as part of their team.  

–        Membership Fee: ₹1,000/- for a tenure of two years. (A partial Financial Year is also counted as Full).

–        Privileges:

o   Access to ICA resources, events, and learning opportunities.

o   Opportunities to network with industry professionals. 

o   Exclusive Online workshops with professionals & industry stalwarts

o   Endorsements and guidance from publishers. 

o   Information on industry developments & events.

o   Greater visibility within the ICA and allied networks.

o   Access to ICA-partnered or ICA events on a subsidized basis, wherever possible.

o   Access to advanced resources and opportunities for commissioning/collaboration.

 

General Membership Terms

1.       Membership fees are non-refundable and must be paid in full upon joining. 

2.       Membership fees and benefits are subject to ICA’s policies and may evolve to serve the community better.

3.       Members are expected to adhere to ICA’s code of conduct and contribute positively to the community. 

4.       ICA works for the comics community and works on a cooperation and collaboration model, and that’s what is expected from our creator members as well.

5.       Membership will be subject to cancellation if a member is found to violate the community rules and/or their actions are causing nuisance/harm/loss to the comics community at large.

6.       A digital membership card will be issued to Creator Members, along with the membership number. Initially, it may take some time to generate the cards for all incoming members, so please expect a delay.

7.       Creator Members will be part of the ICA community, but that doesn’t bar them from entering into contests, competitions, or events organized by ICA or partners, unless they are part of the Organizing Team.

8.       The entry of Creator Members in Waves or any other event in which they have already participated will depend on the rules of that event. There are no fixed guidelines for entry in previously attended events.

9.       The volunteer opportunity for Creator Members will be purely on a selection basis, and chances will be given in a phase-wise manner if the number of applications for a particular event is high.

10.   Being a creator member doesn’t ensure any guaranteed work from ICA publishers, partners, or government; However, ICA will always strive towards more work opportunities and benefits for its creator members.

11.   Joining ICA doesn’t bar the Creator Members from joining any other association or professional body.

12.   The primary means of communication will be the Creator Members WhatsApp Group.

By establishing a Creator membership category, the ICA aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment where both emerging and established creators can thrive. Together, we can propel Indian comics to new heights!
